Australian EFT Assembly 2018

BRISBANE: 25 & 26 AUGUST 2018    MELBOURNE: 28 AUGUST 2018

ACEFT is proud to host the first ever “Australian Assembly on Affect & Attachment: Theory Into Practice with EFT” in August 2018.

This will be an exciting two-day assembly in Brisbane on the 25th & 26th August with international experts on EFT and attachment as well as presenters from within the Australian EFT community. It will include a one-day workshop with international EFT trainer, Dr Kathryn Rheem, director of the Washington Baltimore Centre for EFT. This workshop will also be offered in Melbourne on the 28th August.

This Assembly will provide an opportunity for professionals interested in couples therapy to learn more about adult attachment and EFT. It will provide masterclasses by an international expert in EFT and trauma, Dr Kathryn Rheem, that will educate people newer to the EFT model and challenge seasoned EFT therapists to take their therapy to deeper levels.

Stay tuned for more information over the coming months. Registrations will open soon and will able to be completed online on this page.

Dr. Kathryn Rheem, Director of the Washington Baltimore Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (WBCEFT) for the last seven years, has trained hundreds of mental health clinicians in EFT nationally and internationally. She has been a student of EFT since 2002, has been using this empirically-validated approach exclusively in private practice since 2005, and continues to study and learn the model daily. Along with her mentor Dr. Sue Johnson, originator of EFT, Kathryn’s best teachers of this humanistic, attachment-based model are the couples she works with weekly in private practice.

Together, Sue & Kathryn created Strong Bonds, Strong Couples, LLC, which provided EFT-based weekend retreats for Soldiers & Marines coming home from the wars Iraq and Afghanistan and their partners at military installations in the U.S. and abroad. Kathryn has trained U.S. Army Chaplains & European Regional Medical Command in EFT and consults monthly with the U.S. Veterans Administration.

Kathryn trains and presents EFT regularly at many locations in U.S. including the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, AAMFT Annual Conference, state divisions of AAMFT, and EFT Summit and has taught EFT in Denmark, Sweden, Holland, and Germany.

She works extensively with couples where one or both partners have endured trauma and has written and presented on the application of EFT with trauma numerous times. In addition to the application of EFT with trauma, Kathryn has a special passion for working with and teaching the Withdrawer Re-engagement process. For her doctoral dissertation, Kathryn completed the first analysis of Withdrawer Re-engagement, and she enjoys teaching clinicians how to come alongside and work with Withdrawers.

Kathryn was voted a Top Couples Therapist in Washington, D.C. by the Washingtonian magazine in December 2012. A clinical fellow and approved Supervisor of AAMFT, she has written nine articles/chapters on the application of EFT.

It is a treat for ACEFT to have Kathryn coming to share her wisdom with us at the Australian Assembly on Affect and Attachment: Theory Into Practice with EFT.

Judith A. Feeney (PhD, MA, Dip Ed., Dip Sch. Couns.) is Honorary Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Queensland.  She has co-authored five books on close relationships, and has over 100 other publications in peer-reviewed outlets.  She has received research awards for her work on attachment insecurity and the transition to parenthood, and on child protection matters.  She has also worked in school guidance and counselling, and as a consultant on issues ranging from adoption practices to program evaluation.

Judy will be presenting at the Australian Assembly on Affect and Attachment on attachment aspects of couple conflict. We are thrilled to have her as part of this exciting conference in August 2018.

SPOTLIGHT ON CAROLYNNE MOFFAT: Certified EFT Therapist & Supervisor

Carolynne (Caz) Moffat is a Marriage & Family Therapist, an ICEEFT Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor, a wife of 28 years and the mum of three adult (ish) children. She received her therapy training in the U.S, earning an M.A in Marriage & Family Therapy from Argosy University, Twin Cities, and then a License in Marriage & Family Therapy.

Caz has seen the power of the Hold Me Tight Workshop to change relationships in the course of a weekend, in both the U.S & Australia. She is excited and fanatical about sharing this program with everyone, and does her best to present it – each time a little better than the last.

Caz served on the Board of the Minnesota Association for Marriage & Family Therapy for three years as Co-Editor of the Minnesota Association for Marriage & Family Therapy MAMFT NEWS.
She has also presented about EFT in both the U.S & Australia. Caz returned to her Aussie home in 2013, and enjoys a private practice in Newcastle, NSW, where she works primarily with couples.

We are delighted to welcome Caz to the Australian Assembly on Affect and Attachment and look forward to her presentation on the power of the Hold Me Tight Workshop.
